If you want a water bed, you may think the choices are obvious, but there is actually a lot of variety under the water bed name. The soft side waterbed, for example, has water in plastic tubes that lay within a foam box and are surrounded by a thin plastic cover. The fabric mattress then slips over the tubes and the foam. You do not have as much waving and up and down motion in this type of bed as you do in a regular waterbed. These beds feel more like a regular mattress. If you want the feel of a water bed, but not the motion you get every time the person next to you rolls over, the soft side option might be best for you.
